Renesas cloud development kits’ 32-bit microcontrollers RA and RX now support Microsoft Azure cloud services platform.
Renesas Electronics Corp. cellular-to cloud development kits are compatible with Microsoft Azure cloud services. They are powered by the company’s 32-bit microcontrollers, RA and RX. Azure-certified kits include the LTE CAT M1 module from Renesas Electronics Corp., which connects wirelessly MCUs with cloud services without gateways. Asset tracking, building automaton, medical data management and voice command are all important embedded applications.
Cloud kits CKRA6M5 & CKRX65N allow wireless IoT devices to be controlled and connected via the cloud. The Embedded Wireless Framework, a brand new Microsoft product that offers a streamlined connectivity to the Azure cloud platform, allows any network adapter a safe connection to the cloud.
Device Provisioning Service allows for secure provisioning of the devices. They are pre-certified and approved to connect to Azure Hub. Renesas says that the fact that these devices have IoT Plug and Play certification allows developers to integrate them into their solution using pre-defined model device types, eliminating the need for manual configuration.
What is included in cloud kits. Six on-board sensor, a high performance MCU named the RYZ014A Cat M1 Pmod and many peripherals such as a USB FS, a USB to UART serial converter and two PMOD connectors are included.
Security kits include hardware-based security including Renesas Secure Crypto Engine 9 and the respective Trusted Secure IP driver for RA6M5 or RX65N. Renesas and Crypto Quantique have also developed a software-based IoT encryption platform to securely connect IoT devices with server-hosted apps on-premises or cloud-hosted.
Renesas claims that the dev kit makes it easy to collect data from sensors onboard, to transfer it to the cloud to be processed, to use tools and to download the model to the endpoint for AI/ML. Pre-built products from the company, like Edge Impulse Studio or Reality AI, streamline development.
Renesas Quick-Connect IoT Platform (of which the cloud kit is a part) allows developers to connect with more sensors and connectivity options using the Pmod interfaces. It also allows customers to design software graphically and expand their uses with the Quick-Connect Studio. The business created the Cellular Cloud Connected System as a Winning Combination design to expedite the design process.
