IoT Platform Damen Triton Achieves Bureau Veritas Type Accreditation For Cybersecurity

The Triton IoT Platform from Damen Shipyards Group received a Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate for Cyber Resilience.

The Triton IoT Platform from Damen Shipyards Group received a Bureau Veritas Type Approval Certificate for Cyber Resilience. Triton IoT, Dame Shipyards Group’s platform, can collect over 10,000 signals from a single ship. This includes data on the engine, pumps, hydraulics and alarms. The crew at sea and fleet managers on land are then informed. This data can be used by crew to track asset health, maintenance plans, and much more. It is displayed on multiple dashboards on board and remotely.

Damen Digital Solutions, Tata Consultancy Services, and Bureau Veritas collaborated closely to achieve Triton’s type clearance. This was a crucial milestone for the platform.

Damen has placed a high priority on cyber security and the protocols that go with it throughout Triton’s growth. It included a risk-management approach, data protection in transit and rest, as well as the hardening the gateway. This included protocols for updating software and hardware. Damen and TCS are committed to expanding the platform to provide their clients with useful data analytics that will increase their effectiveness.

TCS’ Regu Ayyaswamy is Global Head of IoT & Digital Engineering.

Triton met the requirements of BV Rule Note NR659R02 for cyber security in order to obtain this type approval. Paul Delouche, Strategy & Advanced Services director at Bureau Veritas Marine & Offshore, explains that this makes it also comply with IACS UR E27, which will come into effect on any contracts signed following January 1, 2024.

Damen delivers the Triton IoT Platform with every newbuild, which is more than 150 vessels per year. Triton can also be adapted for existing ships, and it can coexist with legacy system, giving operators more opportunities to benefit from its capabilities.
