Launch of improved FOSSA Satellites to Orbit

FOSSA Systems expects to connect millions of devices to its network by 2024 and provide real-time LPWAN direct-to device coverage with their 80 satellite constellation.

Momentus Inc. will be launching its latest generation satellites into low Earth orbit with two Vigoride Orbital Service Vehicle flights beginning in 2023. The company provides services in space infrastructure, transportation, and more. FOSSA Systems (FOSSA) is a Spanish satellite constellation company providing low-power Internet of Things connectivity.

The first FOSSA satellites of next generation are scheduled to launch on the Vigoride Orbital Services Vehicle as part of SpaceX Transporter-8 no earlier than June 2023. On a subsequent SpaceX Transporter flight, a second batch of FOSSA satellites is expected to be launched on a Vigoride follow-on vehicle. This will begin the deployment of an entirely new constellation. The mission is intended to showcase new features of the satellites and act as a demo for them.

“FOSSA System flew with our on the first mission we launched in May of 2022. “We’re happy to have gained their trust by selecting us to be their space transportation providers for their new satellites. We look forward to building a partnership with them in the long term towards our first large constellation deployment,” stated Momentus CEO John Rood. FOSSA has a goal to deliver the next-generation of IoT technologies and connectivity. Our services play a key role in achieving the disruptive vision of our customers.

FOSSA CEO Julian Fernandez said, “FOSSA already has 13 picosatellites orbiting, but the next generation will enable us to provide higher-capacity services commercially for more applications. This includes IoT, and space-related services such as remote sensing or communications.” This new generation provides capabilities that are comparable to those of six – twelveU satellites at a fraction the cost, size and mass. As we consider our plans to launch our initial 80 satellite constellation, to support SaaS customers and dedicated satellite clients in sectors like Maritime, Logistics Infrastructure, Utilities, or National Security, we are pleased to reaffirm Momentus’s trust.
