Quectel introduces an ultra-compact LTE Cat.1bis module for mid-range IoT applications

Quectel offers a wide range of antennas that significantly increase wireless connectivity and help customers to realize their vision. IoT designers can reduce the time and cost to market for Cat.1 devices using the EG800Q module and Quectel antennas.

Quectel Wireless Solutions is a global provider of IoT Solutions. The newest module in its LTE portfolio, the EG800Q EU LTE Cat.1bis wireless communication module has been announced. The EG800Q is a compact module that has an LGA format factor. It is ideal for IoT applications where space is a concern.

The EG800Q is a LTE only module that covers the LTE bands B1/ 3/ 5, 7/ 8, 20/ 28, and Australia. The module is based upon the Qualcomm(r), QCX216 IoT Modem by Qualcomm Technologies Inc. It can deliver a downlink data rate up to 10 Mbps, while extending the battery life.

The EG800Q Cat.1 EU module’s support for bis allows it to use a single, low-cost antenna. This combines cost with performance. It is the ideal choice for IoT devices that need to be compact and affordable.

The EG800Q is a compact form factor with dimensions of 15,8mm 17,7mm 2.4mm. This makes it easy for integrators and developers to design applications which are sensitive to size. The cutting edge LGA packaging allows for fully automated production in high volume applications.

The EG800Q also offers a variety of Internet protocols and industry standard interfaces, including USB 2.0, UART I2C PCM and USIM. This makes the EG800Q a great choice for IoT-based applications, such as asset management, remote managed access control and smart grid. The module supports DFOTA when there is no GPS indoors. This allows automatic firmware updates and Wi-Fi locating.
