The LTE-M/NB IoT device now offers extensive IoT deployments

The SKY66431 is a small system-in package, developed by Sequans and Skyworks. It offers LTE-M/NB-IoT connectivity for large IoT 5G deployments.

The SKY66431 combines a Skyworks RF front-end with Sequans Monarch 2 LTE/NB-IoT Modem operating in the frequency range of 699 MHz to 2200 MHz. The device is packaged in a BGA 8.811.31.585 mm package. The device offers low-power GNSS, memory, crystals and power management.

Upgradeable to 3GPP Release 15 and 16, the system-in package meets the criteria for ultra-low-power and reduced-complexity features of 3GPP Release 14 LTE Advanced Pro. This standard defines LTE narrowband technology with low data rates for machine-type communication (MTC). The SKY66431 was designed to meet demand for cellular LPWAN devices that are form factor oriented. The SKY66431 can be used for battery-powered devices such as utility meters, asset trackers and security alert systems. It is also suitable for wearable medical equipment.

Both Sequans and Skyworks sell the product under the names Monarch 2 SiP or SKY66431. The component is certified by a number of industry and regulatory organizations, as well as many network operators. Select clients are already able to purchase the component, with general availability expected in the first quarter 2023.
