Wideband modules can accelerate IIoT applications.

The UWB is compatible with IEEE 802.15.4z and the FiRa Consortium PHY, MAC and CCC standard.

Mouser now offers the DWM3001C 8GHz/6.5GHz UWB Module from Qorvo. This module speeds up IIoT apps for access control, asset tracking, secure bubble environments and tags. The module is designed to simplify UWB installations in automation systems and security in warehouses and factories. It is ideal for applications that involve healthcare staff and patients, retail safety, connected homes and navigation.

The device can be used in systems that use a low-power microcontroller. It is a certified integrated modem (FCC ETSI and IC). The module is designed for high data-throughput systems. It offers variable speeds from 850kbps up to 6.8Mbps, with maximum packet sizes of 1023bytes. The module includes the Nordic Semiconductor nRF52833 Bluetooth low energy SoC and the DW3110 Transceiver IC to reduce the development cycle. It also contains a planar antenna for UWB, an accelerometer as well as power management.

The module’s RF has been extensively tested and calibrated to guarantee low power consumption for battery-powered applications. Module is compatible with Apple U1 and can be used in TWR applications or TDoA (Beta evaluation).

A DWM3001CDK kit is also available from the company, giving designers the opportunity to create an assessment RTLS as well as assess hardware performance using a TWR tag or TDoA. A J-Link integrated debugger provides SWD/UART interfaces to the module.
